To All,
Those of you that have hunted with us in the past have all met or spent time with Wayne Cope who we affectionately call "Big Wayne". Wayne has helped with the WKO operation from day 1 and he and I have been friends and shared hunts together for over 25 years. Over the years I've never heard anything bad about Wayne. He's the type of person that will drop what he is doing to give you a hand and lend you his last dollar if you needed it. Not many conversations occur with past clients without getting asked how Big Wayne is doing. For those planning a hunt with us this fall we hope you have the opportunity to spend time with Wayne, but his recovery is likely to be long.
The truth is Wayne fell ill last fall and is not doing so well. After weeks of tests and mistreatments with local doctors and hospitals Wayne was sent to Vanderbilt Hospital in Nashville where he has been since the 28th of December. In short, a mass was found in his lower abdomen and from August until December grew to the size of a football. The mass was cancer. Due to it's size the mass created many complications for the surgeons and some measures taken were unavoidable. At this time, the doctors are not addressing the cancer aspect of Wayne's condition, but focusing on his recovery from measures they had to take during the operation. It isn't know when Wayne see recovery.
This has left Wayne bed ridden for nearly 12 weeks, 7 of which has been spent in Vanderbilt Hospital. One can expect such a situation to have an impact on finances and making ends meet. For that reason I will be giving away a hunt of choice to the person who's name is chosen from an organized drawing.
There will be 2 ways to get your name in the drawing. (1) You may mail a check or money order made out to Western Kentucky Outdoors for the amount you wish to donate and mail it to the Address found below.
The second method (2) is by using PayPal and sending the amount you would like to donate towards PayPal account info@westernkentuckyoutdoors. With your mailed donation or donation sent through PayPal, please include:
Name, Address, City, State, Zip Code
Phone Number and Email Address
This information will be added to a database file which will be used to select the winner by random.
Each donation of $5 will have your name entered 1 time. If you donate $20, you will have 4 chances to win. If you donate $100 you will have 20 chances to win, so on and so forth.
The donation period will start today February 12th and run through April 12, 2010. The Winner will be announced on April 15, 2010 here on our website. The winner will also be contacted by phone and email.
The person winning the hunt will have the choice of conducting their hunt in 2010 or 2011. If you have a hunt booked with us this year, choose to donate and selected as the winner, you will have the option for us to wave your current hunt balance for 2010 or choose a hunt for 2011.
The following hunts will be options for the winner to choose from. Lodging will be provided to the winner in our hotel of choice and dinner provided each night. The winner will be responsible for his or her Non-Resident hunting license, deer permit and travel to and from Kentucky.

The money raised from this Giveaway will go primarily toward medical bills and to help with expenses associated with continued care that will require travel.
