With Western Kentucky Outdoors you will be hunting trophy
bucks. Thanks to the KDFWR, Kentucky has become one
of the top producers of trophy bucks in recent years.
With a one buck limit many Kentucky bucks make it past
2 ½ years of age, allowing them to mature and grow the
head gear of a trophy buck.
Here at WKO we hunt across 2 Western Kentucky counties
that have produced P&Y class bucks fro year. Traditionally
these counties are also in the top 10 deer harvest counties
across the state. With it's rich mixture of farm lands,
hardwoods and bottomland, the western part of Kentucky
has always produced trophy bucks.
OPENINGS DUE
TO RECENT CANCELLATIONS
Archery: September
26-27-28th. /
October 24-25-26th / November 1st-4th
The November dates can be a 3 or 4 day hunt. We consider
all these dates to be good archery hunts.
During the late September hunt
we usually see some crops being harvested, along with
some oaks dropping. Many of the bucks are still in bachelor
groups or starting to break up. The late October hunt
is pre-rut oriented and if we have some cooler weather
rub lines and scrapes should be popping up. Using calls
during this time is also a good tactic. The first 4
days of November we consider pre-rut/rut. A lot of chasing
is usually taking place and buck activity increases
by the day.
We can also put together a
archery/rifle combo hunt for
November 7-9th. This will
be archery hunting on November 7th and 8th and rifle
hunting the opening day of the firearms season if you
were not successful while archery hunting. These dates
usually mean "Prime Time" rut hunting.
Muzzleloader: October
18-19. (This is the early
2-day Black Powder season. Kentucky has no restrictions
on inlines or scopes.)
Rifle: November
10th - 13th. (This could be
a 3 or 4 day hunt and starts on the 2nd day of the firearm
season.)

We also work to customize your own hunt. Typically our
hunts are 3-day hunts structured around what we feel
are the best times to harvest a trophy buck. We will
book longer hunts if that is desired.
