About
Western Kentucky Outdoors
WKO started
providing guided turkey hunts in 1998. As huntable acreage
increased so did hunting opportunities. In 2002 we offered
archery only deer hunts. In 2004 we expanded our offering
to a very limited number of blackpowder and firearms
hunts. Today we cater to mostly bowhunters, who enjoy
hunting some of our archery-only areas. Currently we
provide hunts for deer, ducks, turkey and predators,
along with guiding for fishing trips.
Western Kentucky
Outdoors is operated in the heart of Western Kentucky.
We hunt two prime whitetail deer hunting counties that
traditionally rank among the top 10-12 deer harvest
counties. The city of Madisonville serves as the hub
of our operation. Madisonville is located 45 minutes
south of Evansville, Indiana on the Pennyrile Parkway;
2 1/2 hours west of Louisville, Kentucky; approximately
90 minutes northwest of Nashville, Tennessee and 75
minutes east of Paducha, Kentucky.
In 2006 we will
hunt 2800 acres of private land that we manage and hunt.
Land acquisition is always at the top of our list and
we work diligently to acquire properties in areas that
have low hunting pressure and a good age class. Those
affiliated with WKO are locals and know the areas well.
The properties we hunt have been targeted due to the
trophy bucks found there. Light hunting pressure and
habitat are also factors considered during property
research. The majority of our properties we've had for
a number of years. We do lose or let go leases from
time to time, but it has never impacted our success.
We also provide hunting opportunities in Southeastern
Illinois and Southern Indiana. In addition to this,
WKO leads trips every year across the United States
for deer, turkey and bass fishing. Contact us to find
out what trips we have planned and client availability
"We want to shake your hand when you arrive
and be able to do the same when you leave. This cannot
be accomplished unless you have a hunt that is enjoyable
regardless of success." Bill
Cartwright, owner.
