2008 Trophy
Buck Hunt Prices
Archery,
Crossbow, Muzzleloader,Rifle
The Kentucky Archery season
runs from early September
to mid January. Typically the early archery season provides
some great hunting on bucks that have been well patterned
and not pressured.
October provides good
hunting early when acorns are dropping and during annual
crop harvesting where focus will be between bedding
and feeding areas. October is also a time to hunt pre-rut
whitetails. During this time we will hunt bottlenecks
and saddles that are showing signs of buck activity.
Early November
provides for some great bow hunting action. The
rut will be in full swing between the 5th and 20th of
this month. We also offer bowhunting during our State
Firearm season on a Archery Only area. Hunter Orange
is required during this time.
We will establish what we feel is a standard (score)
for the bucks on the property you are hunting. It is
your decision to decide what is and is not a trophy
in your book. We do not make that choice for you, nor
do we penalize you for taking a smaller buck. We would
like to see the buttons, spikes, forkies and baskets
walk, but again, we don't impose penalties for harvesting
one. We know what our leases can and cannot support
in way of harvests.
*** To book days beyond our
normal 3-day hunts please contact us for availability,
dates and rates. Days beyond our normal 3-day hunts
are at the rate of $200
per day.***
Archery Velvet Buck Hunt Between
9/6-9/15 $550
Hunt one of the earliest seasons in the country. You
will be hunting for P&Y class bucks in full velvet.
The first 2 weeks of the season is your best chance
at taking a buck in full velvet. This hunt is a 3-day
hunt. A $250
non-refundable deposit is required to hold your hunt
dates. Balance is due before going afield for your first
day of hunting.
Archery Bean Field Hunts Between
9/3-9/25 $550
You will be hunting early season P&Y class bucks that
are feeding on the rich soybeans of west Kentucky. This
hunt is a 3-day hunt. We will have these bucks patterned
and stands in place. Due to high temps, this hunt mostly
involves hunting the first few hours of daylight and
last light of the day. Bring your Thermacell. Generally
we see the deer changing food sources as we get into
late Sept. along with their daily patterns. A $250
non-refundable deposit is required to hold your hunt
dates. Balance is due before going afield for your first
day of hunting.
Archery Acorn Drop/Crop harvest
Hunt Between 9/25-10/25 $550
Beginning the last week of Sept into October we begin
to see acorns hit the ground and crop fields harvested.
White oaks and Cut cornfields become a magnet for deer
as they gain strength for the rut. We will have patterned
the deer and have stands in place for your 3-day hunt
and remain mobile with climbing stands if needed. Fall
temps can run high this time of the year. This hunt
mostly involves hunting the first few hours of the morning
and late afternoons. A $250
non-refundable deposit is required to hold your hunt
dates. Balance is due before going afield for your first
day of hunting.
Youth Firearm first weekend
of Oct $400
Unlike most Outfitters we do not charge for an
extra person being afield with their Youth. We welcome
it. This hunt is geared to Youth just getting started
in hunting and covers the 2-day hunt for 1 Youth. This
hunt involves setups in high traveled areas that almost
guarantee deer movement. This is not a doe only hunt.
However, this is a hunt that is setup to provide an
eventful day afield while providing your youth hunter
the chance to harvest a deer, which means it is more
probable that a doe will be taken. A $200
non-refundable deposit is required to hold your hunt
dates. Balance is due before going afield for your first
day of hunting.
Early Muzzleloader October
18-19th, 2008 $500
Come take advantage of the early Muzzleloader season
here in Kentucky. Typically the 3rd weekend in October,
this is when many of our bucks begin making rubs and
scrapes visible in our hunting areas. Hunting rub lines
can be very successful, as will hunting food sources
and prime bedding/feeding travel areas. Light rattling
can also be productive at this time of the year. This
is a 2-day hunt. A $250 non-refundable
deposit is required to hold your hunt dates. Balance
is due before going afield for your first day of hunting.
Pre-rut bow between Oct 25-Oct
31 $650
If you are a bow bender, this is the time to enter the
woods in west Kentucky. Each and every year the beginnings
of our rut start to take shape during this time. Trophy
Bucks become very active. They will begin cruising for
does, making rubs, scrapes, responding to grunting,
doe bleats and grunting. Rattling can be affective during
this time as well. Warm weather can take its toll, but
here at WKO we traditionally see some of our better
bucks this time of the year. This is a 3 -day hunt unless
otherwise arranged. A $250 non-refundable deposit
is required to hold your dates. . Balance is due before
going afield for your first day of hunting
Pre-rut/Rut bow between Nov
1-Nov 7 $750
This hunt proceeds our State firearm opener. This week
typically leads up to what I feel is our peek breeding
period. A lot of chasing takes place during this week.
Bucks are more active by the day. They are cruising
for does, making rubs, scrapes, responding to grunting,
doe bleats and grunting. Rattling is very successful
during this time. Warm weather can take its toll, but
this is one of the best times to arrow a trophy buck.
This is a 3 -day hunt unless otherwise arranged. A $250
non-refundable deposit is required to hold your dates.
. Balance is due before going afield for your first
day of hunting.
Firearm Nov. 8, 9, and 10th
$950 Experience
the opportunity to firearm hunt during the peak of our
rut here in Kentucky. This is the time of year when
most trophy bucks are harvested. We will set expectations
for the area you are hunting and be able to provide
specific information about bucks you should look for.
Our firearm hunts are very limited and we suggest booking
early. A $450 non-refundable deposit is required
to hold your dates. Balance is due before going afield
for your first day of hunting
Firearm Nov. 11, 12, and 13th
$950 Experience
the opportunity to firearm hunt during the peak of our
rut here in Kentucky. This is the time of year when
most trophy bucks are harvested. We will set expectations
for the area you are hunting and be able to provide
specific information about bucks you should look for.
This hunt follows the opening 3 days of season but this
has meant very little in recent years. We take good
bucks throughout the short 3 week rifle season. Our
firearms hunts are very limited and we suggest booking
early. A $450 non-refundable deposit is required
to hold your dates. Balance is due before going afield
for your first day of hunting
Firearm Nov 14, 15, and 16th
- $950 Make no mistake
you will have the same opportunity to harvest that trophy
buck as those hunting before you. With several properties
spread out and across different counties, hunting pressure
is not an issue. This 3-day hunt will be limited and
will book fast. A $450 non-refundable deposit
is required to hold your dates. Balance is due before
going afield for your first day of hunting
Firearm Nov 17, 18, and 19th
$700 We
offer this hunt for those that want to save a little
money and know that the rut means a buck can be taken
at any time. We are hunting 2800 acres over 11 properties
and 2 counties. Depending on our success, you could
very easily be hunting property that has yet to be hunted.
This hunt is conducted over the 10th, 11th and 12th
days of a 3-week season and will be the last rifle hunt
offered for 2008. With all of our hunts, space is limited
so we suggest booking early. A $300 non-refundable
deposit is required to hold your dates. The balance
is due before going afield for your first day of hunting.
December Muzzleloader Dec
13-21st $700
Date still to be set by KDFWR, but traditionally this
hunt begins the second Saturday in December and runs
for 9 days. This is a 3-day hunt. Most years we will
see a 2nd rut during this time. Many bucks will be trailing
does and checking areas that does are feeding/bedding
trying to find the doe coming into heat for a second
time. This time of the year can be very cold, rainy
and windy. Food sources will be an important part of
our setups. Most hunting will be conducted early mornings
and in the afternoons. A $200 non-refundable
deposit is required to hold your dates. Balance is due
before going afield for your first day of hunting
Late Season Bowhunts Dec.
22-Jan.15 $450
We consider the late season anything after December
1st. This is a 3-day hunt. The woods are open, temps
are usually cold and the weather can be pretty harsh.
Most deer are just trying to feed and stay out of the
elements. By this time we've probably harvested 95%
of the deer we will take. We will continue to harvest
deer right on up until the last day of season. We see
our lowest success on this hunt, but the potential is
there to tag a great buck. Most bucks are focusing on
feeding if they are not laid up. We will hunt tight
to bedding areas or food sources. Both these tactics
will give you the greatest chance at harvesting a late
season buck. A $250 non-refundable deposit is
required to hold your dates. Balance is due before going
afield for your first day of hunting.
